Sofía Zárate
Associate
Sofía has extensive experience in banking and financial services in Latin America. At SAIL, Sofía analyzes our investment opportunities as well as existing investments. She works closely with management teams to provide strategic direction, marketing support, and sales consulting.
Prior to SAIL, Sofía was a Credit Risk Analyst at Lloyds TSB Bank in Latin America. In this role she interacted with large corporate clients, analyzed various business sectors, and submitted proposals for lines of credit. She was responsible for analyzing a client’s strategic planning, competitive position, financial situation and projections, managerial capabilities, risk profile, and repayment ability. She was also a Financial Analyst for Banco Pichincha, the largest bank in Ecuador. Sofía prepared and analyzed financial reports and performed budgeting and forecasting for key business units.
Sofía graduated with two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Finance and Hospitality Management from Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador. She earned her MBA from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business, where she was a Fulbright Scholar. Sofía has received numerous awards, including the Deloitte and Touche Award for Academic Excellence & Leadership, and was the recipient of the 1st prize of the National Association of Women MBAs’ Case Competition.
