R. Foster Duncan is a Managing Partner of the Louisiana Sustainability Fund, SAIL’s first fund to be dedicated to proving that sustainable investment can be both profitable and helpful in economic recovery efforts.  Prior to that, Mr. Duncan had been a Managing Director at Advantage Capital Partners with senior management responsibility for the firm’s cleantech portfolio and energy investment initiatives and had also been at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (“KKR”).  Mr. Duncan worked with KKR and its portfolio companies to create value and invest in companies in the energy, cleantech, utility and natural resources sectors.

Prior to KKR, Mr. Duncan had joined Cinergy Corp. in February 2001 as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and was also CEO and President of Cinergy’s Commercial Business Unit, Chairman of Cinergy’s Investment Committee and a member of the Risk Policy and Regulatory and Legislative Strategy Committees. He also had management responsibilities for Cinergy Ventures, which made over a dozen cleantech and energy investments in energy efficiency, the smart grid, software, enabling technologies and infrastructure, as well as for Cinergy’s investments in eleven power technology and infrastructure services portfolio companies.

Mr. Duncan was responsible for all of Cinergy’s energy merchant operations and regulated generation, wholesale electric, natural gas and coal marketing, trading and origination, international operations, and energy services operations. Such energy services operations include the construction, ownership structure, operation, and maintenance of cogeneration facilities that provide industrial utility services, as well as energy infrastructure improvements and upgrades for public and private entities.

Mr. Duncan has also held important financial management posts at LG&E Energy and Freeport-McMoRan, and served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Howard, Weil Financial Corp. He graduated with Distinction from the University of Virginia and later received his MBA degree from the A. B. Freeman Graduate School of Business at Tulane University. Mr. Duncan serves on the Boards of Directors of Atlantic Power Corporation (NYSE:AT), North American Energy Alliance LLC,  Xtreme Power Inc. and SensorTran Inc.  He also serves on the Board of Advisors of GridPoint, Inc.
