Louis M. Freeman, Jr.

Louis Freeman has been an entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and philanthropist. His formative venture capital experience was in the Asia Pacific region. His experience includes includes technologies for First Responder & HAZMAT response, a patent for a method of remote identification of airborne chemicals, web-based medical practice and on-line medical billing management, and medical receivables factoring. Mr. Freeman recently worked with Film Production Capital LLC, a leading producer and seller of film and media tax credits to develop private-equity financing.
A small business owner, he was the owner of Automatek, providing advanced custom electronic security and automation services to residential, and business customers, and various other small businesses. Mr. Freeman began as a registered investment advisor and securities broker in 1984, working for Scharff & Jones, Inc. in New Orleans. He moved to Hong Kong in 1989 to join Arral & Partners, (Asia) Ltd., a Hong Kong venture capital and fund management company. While at Arral, Mr. Freeman assisted in raising and managing a series of private equity trusts with over $140 million in capital. Portfolio investments consisted of companies in high-growth consumer-related industries such as fast-food (Pizza Hut in Thailand and Beijing), hotel and resort development (Aman Resorts), computer and software distribution, American and European-style retail and import/export trade. Arral investments included the first green laser printer cartridge recycling company.
Mr. Freeman has always been active in the Louisiana community, serving or having served on numerous charitable foundation and advisory boards including: The Rosamary Foundation; several Tulane University advisory boards including President’s Council, Business School Council, and Tulane Cancer Center. He served as the President of the Tulane Association of Business Alumni and chaired the Tulane Business Forum.
