Joseph Romm, Ph.D.
The Executive Director of the Center for Energy and Climate Solutions, he has authored "Straight Up: America's Fiercest Climate Blogger Takes on the Status Quo Media, Politicians, and Clean Energy Solutions" (April 2010).
Joseph served as an acting Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in 1997 and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary from 1995 to 1998. He helped manage the largest program in the world that works with businesses to develop and use advanced transportation and clean energy technologies, including $1 Billion aimed at hybrid vehicles, electric batteries, hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, renewable energy, distributed generation, energy efficiency and bio fuels. Time magazine called Romm "The Web's most influential climate-change blogger", naming him as one of its "Heroes of the Environment" (2009). He has written and lectured widely on these topics and released an acclaimed book, "Hell and High Water", on the scope of the climate change problem and promising solutions.
